Petworth Fringe Food Festival

From 9th-10th July 2016 Fantastic British Food Festivals visited the picturesque town of Petworth, as part of Petworth Fringe Festival’s fortnight of celebrations.

Market Square was filled with delicious food and drink offerings from local and regional stallholders. From traditional barbequed meats to exotic dishes from far flung places and handmade sweets, there was something to appeal to all tastes plus a wide choice of foodie gifts on offer.

Talks and tasting sessions and children’s interactive food events took centre stage at historic Leconfield Hall where children of all ages made Italian strawberry tarts, giant waffles and torta al testo with Jethro Carr from The Kitchen Academy. Local business, The Hungry Guest, gave an informative butchery demo and there were more fascinating demos and talks from guests including Ridgeview Wines; Burren Balsamics and Alec Tomasso, The Weeping Chef.

Petworth has been settled since at least Norman times and is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. The Leconfield Hall was built in 1793 and major restoration of the historic building was undertaken in mid 1990s.
